Who is Jesus Christ? A good man? A great moral teacher? A religious leader? Many celebrities and world leaders have given their opinion - but what does the Bible say?
In John 5:16–24, Jesus makes a claim that demands a personal response: He is the Son of God, equal with the Father, worthy of the same honor as God, and the One who gives everlasting life. This was blasphemy to the religious leaders of His day because His claims made Him equal with God.
In this message from our Sunday morning sermon series, Believe and Live: A Journey Through the Gospel of John, Pastor Tim examines Jesus’ claims and credentials, revealing why we cannot simply admire Him as a good teacher while rejecting who He says He is.
In this sermon, we discover three truths about Jesus:
1) His Claim: One With the Father — Jesus declares His unique Oneness with the Father as the Son.
2) His Credentials: Equal With God — Jesus does the works of the Father, gives eternal life, judges mankind, and deserves the same honor as the Father.
3) His Call: Believe and Live — Jesus promises everlasting life to those who hear His Word and believe on Him who sent Him. Jesus offers far more than help for our earthly problems. He offers everlasting life, freedom from condemnation, and a passage from spiritual death to life.
But the question remains: What do you believe about Jesus Christ? Have you personally trusted Him as your Savior? And if you have, are you honoring Him as Lord in the way you live?
