What happens when the Savior meets a sinner?
In John 4, Jesus meets a woman at a well who came looking for water—but Jesus knew she needed something far more important. He knew her past, her struggles, her sin, and her deepest needs. And knowing everything about her, He still came looking for her.
In this message, Pastor Tim examines three truths about Jesus from this remarkable encounter:
1. The Savior Seeks the Sinner
Jesus intentionally went through Samaria because He was seeking someone who needed Him. No one is beyond the reach of God's grace. God always initiates His call because we cannot. His grace and truth reaches out to all sinners.
2. The Savior Satisfies the Soul
The woman came looking for physical water, but Jesus offered her "living water." We often try to find satisfaction through relationships, success, acceptance, possessions, or religion—but only Christ can satisfy the deepest needs of the soul.
3. The Savior Exposes the Sin Jesus lovingly confronted the truth about this woman's life. He didn't expose her sin to destroy her, but to help her understand her need for salvation. We cannot appreciate the cure until we understand the disease.
The wonderful truth of John 4 is that Jesus knows you completely—and He still loves you.
You don't have to clean yourself up before coming to Christ. You can't become good enough to save yourself. The truth is, our sin was laid upon Jesus Christ, who died for us and rose again so that we might have forgiveness and eternal life.
The Savior who seeks the sinner is still seeking sinners today.
