Sanctified, Preserved, Secured

1 Thessalonians 5:17–24

Have you ever wondered, “Am I really growing?” or “Will I actually finish faithful?” You’re not alone.

In this sermon, Pastor Tim will walk through Paul’s closing prayer to the Thessalonian church—a prayer that speaks directly to the fears and discouragements many believers carry. Rather than pointing us to our own faithfulness, Paul points us to God’s.

This message explores two powerful truths:

The Scope of Our Sanctification God’s work in us is not partial or surface-level. He desires to sanctify the whole person—spirit, soul, and body. Sanctification is not selective obedience or Sunday-only Christianity; it is a life wholly surrendered to God’s transforming grace.

The Security of Our Sanctification Our hope does not rest in our consistency, but in God’s faithfulness. We are not kept by our grip on Him, but by His grip on us. What God begins, He finishes.

You’ll be encouraged to see that:

Sanctification is not self-improvement—it is divine completion

Security is not self-confidence—it is God-confidence

God does not call you to “try harder,” but to yield fully

If you’re discouraged by slow growth, burdened by failure, or fearful of the future, this passage reminds us of a rock-solid promise: “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” (1 Thess. 5:24)

Listen and be reminded that exemplary faith is not perfection or performance—but a life wholly surrendered to a faithful God who will finish what He started.
